Would you buy a car with which the owner has the slip from the V5 to register the car in his name, but hasnt done so since he got the car 3 months ago? Why would he not have sent it off?
I'm wondering about all this cause what if there has been parking/speeding fines etc.
Trouble is I like the car - question is, what would you guys do?

just do hpi gold check on it then relax, once registered in your name no comeback on tickets etc as you can prove when you bought it so all tickets will be previous to that date

Its called a V62 and is available from your post office
I take it when you mean the slip off the v5 your talking about the main part and not the very small slip you get?
Had this problem myself though, and as stated above, you can do 2 things, 1. call dvla and see if the car has had the documentation processed or 2. call the owner who still has the slip.

Agree with doing the HPI gold check and if this is clear and the owner as definate proof of owernship then yes no problem what so ever.
How many of you have bought second hand cars from a dealer and the car is not in the name of the garage ? Common ruse used by garages etc to save on papaer work and make the car look like its had less owners!
My scooby was still in the name of the imported garage (Bentleys of Shefield) right up to the point it was killed by the skip driver, Has not caused any problems with insurance etc or even when I renewed the road tax.

Better still - the guy had no part of the V5. 150 mile round trip for nothing. However, this morning drove another 318 and it had all the bits and pieces.
Cheers for the HPI gold check - didnt know about that one.
Thanks to those with sensible replies.
