I was wondering if there is such a thing as a sat nav type device which can easily be moved between cars, something like a pocket pc with necessary software.
I have looked about the net but dont really know what I'm looking for.
Any advice or experience would be great

Tom Tom is pretty smart
although Kane SatNav also do Speed Minder, so not only does it tell you how to get to where you are going, it tells you where all the speed cameras are too
And Kane has some good novelty voices too

Thanks those links were usefull Hanslow.
Sonic have you used one yourself.
There seems to be a choice and they are all quite expensive, not something you would want to make a mistake when buying seeing as I will need to buy the pocket pc as well.

What I want to know is when some clever sod is going to come up with the nav software for the P800 phone. It's already out for Nokia 92 series which uses a similar OS so it can't be that hard to adapt. Pleeease

With regards to Tom Tom and an Ipaq, personally I havent used one myself yet
Oone of the guys at work has it, and I have seen it in use, and it is pretty smart (and cheap too) as a result of this guy in work, 4 other people have now got it too
and I will be the 5th, infact I have the software now and I just need my GPS receiever (ebay 85 quid)

Garmin Street Pilot III rocks. Several mates have bought them after being in my car. It's great and transfers from car to car.
I've had mine for over a year and couldn't manage without it!

I went a bit mad and bought all this stuff last week.
I went a slightly different route. I have a Ipaq 3870 allready I bought a road angel camera detector and connected my ipaq to this via the serial port. you can either reuse the docking cradle serial and mount this in the car (looks a bit cheesy). Or by a serial cable which plugs into the bottom.
I bought tomtom navigator v2 which is excellent, you also need a 128mb memory card to put the uk map on (96mb required).
and then you need a way of mounting the ipaq in the car. check out theclip.com as for $7 they have a very good vent mmount solution. cheapest similiar device i could find in the uk was £35.
there is a very useful site called pocketgps.co.uk which has lots of very good info. I will take some pictures when i put the equipment in the scoob as it currently lives in my work car.

Ive just got TomTom 2 installed now tis the dogs, I need a GPS Reciever tho, so I can get it working fully
TomTom is good for sticking your route in, then sticking it on Nav Demo, to show you how it works once the GPS is hooked up
Im liking it a lot, need all the mounts n stuff now tho
