having spent the day out in the TVr with the roof down i can tell you the point....
firstly its not cold, not with the heater on- quite cosy!
it gives a much better sense of travel- stuck in a car you have no idea how fast your going without looking at your dials- when you are exposed to the wind and the noise you are at one with your momentum
so there!

I got my scoob which I drive 99% of the time, but her in doors has a Z3 which on a hot sunny day is nice to go for a spin in with the top down. You can drive and sunbath at the same time.....

"in a country where it rains 50 out of 52 weeks"
actually this is a perfect soft top country- any hotter and you'd want protection from the sun- any colder and you'd want to be warmer- here its dry most of the time and all you need is cover when it rains. (it may rain in 50 of 52 weeks but it doesnt rain every day does it)
you stick to your tin boxes!

Yep another advocate of the soft top here, I've been driving round topless since the beginning of March because it feels great I agree with Tiggs, we have perfect topless weather here, just occasionally in the summer it gets too hot to have the roof down and I have to resort to roof-up and aircon on but for most of the year my top is off
I always feel sorry for you tin-tops when I'm driving round with the sun on my face and the wind in my hair, you don't know what you're missing

I accept your points
...but,It just makes me wonder at those with their sheepskin coats, gloves, scarves and hats(c/w with flaps,to cover the ears),who insist on removing the roof at the first glimpse of spring sunshine.

I'm a convert - forgive the pun - I've had mine a month now and although the handling is dire, the roof has been down more than it's been up. As for it being cold, not when the windows are up, the heater is on and the heated seats are wound up to setting number 5. Exhilarating driving without the legal issues

scooby si, doesnt this do it for you?
My mates had 5 scoobs over the years and decided to buy something "more usable" this year. he was sick of jumping in his wifes saxo just to go to the shop or B&Q etc because he didnt want to get his much loved scoob vandelised.
We went to Audi in lincoln with a mate in his S202 to pic this up and had the roof down all the way home
