Yeah didn't think it could be done.
Were using a full Novell client tho not services for netware as that requires IPX and we're using IP both ends.
I did a similar thing with fingerprint recognition login and that hacked NT to bits too........

Chaps need some pointers for Novell on NT workstation.
I have installed the Novell 4.8 client to connect from our NT site to some shared data on another site which uses Novell. Fair enough - it all works fine.
They want me to use the standard NT login screen (which appears after ctrl-alt-del) so the users don't see any change. The Novell client modifies this and I don't think its possible to have the standard NT one back.
So basically we want the NT logon to look the same and logon to Novell seperately (which we can do by running logonw32.exe) at any time.
Any ideas or pointer to web sites? Thanks

The novell client takes over the NT GINA process so with this client novell will always be visible..

Can't think of any slick way right now how to do it outside of ClientServices Netware..

Come to think of it I haven't done NT/Novell intergration for years... doesn't seem to be any demand for it..

Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick here so tell me to STFU if this is the case. You can't change the splash screen back but setting the NT as the preferred login and synchronising the passwords should do the trick. (I haven't done this for ages, but I think if you go to the options for the Novell client, you have an option to change the login order)
I'm not sure about 4.8, but reinstalling the Microsoft client on 4.7 and overwriting newer files allowed you to have the original NT login screen.

Cool

Hopefully I can help here.

What happens is that the NetWare client GINA puts itself in front of the Microsoft GINA. That means the default login will now be through Novell.

The files that control this are MSGINA.DLL (Microsoft Client) and NWGINA.DLL. After installing the client if you replace NWGINA with MSGINA the Microsoft client will be the login default.

The disadvantage of this is that if there are any 'hooks' specifically into the NetWare client they will not now work. For example ZENworks policies will fail. Also the 'right-click' options will not be there.

This can be a good solution on politically sensitive sites although it is not officially supported by Novell

A TID that may help can be found on

Thanks Laurence - I think that's excatly what I want, to be able to log on to NT as normal, with the normal interface for the user, then connect to Novell as an when required.
We are only connecting to a read-only share and just want to map a drive to that.
We don't want Zenworks or any other context sensitive stuff (which I have mostly hacked out of the registry anyway).

Cheers - iou one digital pint.
