I stayed in a couple of B+B's the last weekend in York. Actually hard to find vacancies.
The ones we went to were in St Peters Grove. Only 5 minutes walk from the Minster, and roughly £30 a head ( 3 staying )
In August when we stayed, weekend again, prices were similar, stayed in another B+B/Hotel type thing, again in St Peters Grove.
We also stayed one night in another place, it was just round the corner, but cant remember the name or street.
Couldnt really complain much about any of the places we stayed. Pretty good all round. Dont have any Phone nos though. Maybe a yellow pages would help??
I think one was called Holmelea Hotel, and the other Orchard... They do have car parks, the Orchard one is bigger, but it seemed like a quiet street. Its a dead end/cul-de-sac whichever you prefer.

Can anyone suggest a good place for the wife and I to stay in York?
I need it to be on-suite, have off road parking and to be within walking distance of the city centre.
Thanks in advance

My Mum has just gone to York today for the weekend. Can't remember which hotel she is staying at, but the leaflet is at her house. When she gets back I'll get the name of it, after obviously asking her if it was any good.
Cheers.

Steve,
I have lived in hotels in York for about a year now. For that money, with offstreet parking en suite the Ramada Encore, which is new and right in the centre of town is the closest to £60.
Make sure you get a room at the back tho' and beware, it is a bit like staying in Ikea.
The Hilton is crap and expensive, and that is based on the experience of around 50 nights staying there.
Other than that it is B&Bs as everything else is expensive - and even the expensive are not necessarily good or quiet.

Just a visit to do some Xmas shopping and have a look around! I love York when all the Xmas decorations are out and it's a cold crisp day.
