There's a domain name I'm after.
I approached the registrant about a year ago when I saw it was dormant. He wanted thousands of dollars for it so I let it drop.
Now I see that the clock is ticking down and there are only a few weeks to go until his two year record expires.
So, I'm wondering if I'm quick enough will I be able to snap it up (assuming he's not keeping an eye on it) ... or will he be given first refusal ? ... or is there a grace period ? ... or will the registrar (?) send him a reminder that it's about to expire ?
Any ideas ?
TIA

go to this website http://www.snapnames.com/
You can put an auto snapback process on the domain, so the minute the domain is released you automatically buy it! If the guy is asleep at the time, tough, you get to own the domain.

The problem with using the snap back thing is most registrars allow anything up to 21 days after expiry before releasing it for sale, which gives the owner plenty of time to catch up on any domains he might have missed.

Cheers John - interesting ! Shame about the 69 bucks though, but then I guess it's a question of how much I want it
Clare - what's a bummer ?
Rev - I'd have expected similar though it occurs that surely the ownership should technically be up for grabs the minute the two years runs out.

Numptie, I realised that I put a domain name which you already own! Won't say which one coz it's got your "real" name on it!
