Went in 95, absolute blast. Even weirder considering I don't drink! They have the most amazing fairground rides, and live bands in the beer tents (I say tent, I think each one holds one or two thousand people) - we had x thousand drunken loonies singing "Who the &%$# is Alice" about 12 times during the evening. ISTR there is one tent for each local brewer, so ?seven, plus loads of smaller bars. Each tent serves beer in 1-litre "steins", glasses, and people always try to smuggle them out as souvenirs at the end of the evening, and the breweries employ lines of people to grab at them to stop you nicking them. I got one perhaps as I was sober enough to hide it properly and not just put it across my chest as fake *****! Baggy coats or trousers advisable for this. Note if you want one with a recognisable label the only brewery of international reknown (ISTR) is Lowenbrau, and I think as a result their tent is one of the most crowded.
I returned driving the car of one of our friends, as I was sober. It was a VW Polo (not new in 95), I am 5'10", there were seven of us inside and I was one of the smallest!!

Ya, aber natürlich!! Das Oktober fest ist unglaublich!
Das Hofbräuhaus ist super, aber es ist meistens für Ausländer - Australier und Neu Seeländer. Mein Lieblingszelt ist der Schottenhammel oder Augustiner.

Cheeseboy It'S not big and it's not clever writting mesages in German on a English BBS I reckon I will, no I know I will be there this year as I will be occupying space on your sofa Neal and I presume Bitten Hero will accompany us aswell
