Oktoberfest Accomodation
I'm planning to go to Oktoberfest on the 26th but can't find accomodation at a reasonable price and is still available.
Has anyone any suggestions of a Hotel/Guesthouse?

i've always struggled to sort out accommodation in time. couple of times we ended up at the ibis at muchen messe (15-20min drive from the thereisenweise)
the first time we went, we took a cab from the airport to the hotel and pat butcher was driving. what were the chances of seeing pat butcher (plastic earrings, coat and bleached hair in all their glory) driving a 7 series bmw in munich???...
stayed somewhere else the last time, but i can;t remember what it was called. work your way along the train map and find something that way
have you been before?

if you want to get into the HB tent, hang around by the fire exits. there is always someone in there waiting to let a friend in and as soon as they do, you sneak in and then do the same for whoever you wanted to let in. you won;t get served unless you're sitting though, so perch next to someone for a few minutes to get a beer.
the last night is always a good one. much more relaxed and easier to get into the tents, but still with lots of atmosphere. my brother met a nice german lady in bavarian costume a few years ago
. i know you're not going to be there for the last night, but definately worth considering if you go again
...and experience tells me that 3 nights is more than enough. 2 wasn't quite enough and 4 was just silly
HTH
PS - don't go to dachau (concentration camp) the morning after a night out! you won't be in the right frame of mind...not that there really is a right frame of mind for that sort of thing, but i'm glad i saw it
