Default Advice needed on how to deal with a bad business partner

My wife has run a hair salon for 15 years.
she has a business partner that has never pulled her weight and works as little as she can.
She is borederline alcoholic, and her attitude sucks. She is now upsetting clients with her rudeness and reluctance to do what she is asked. It is making my wife ill quite frankly, and we have opened a shop (different business) that is in my name and she has swanned in a week before opening trying to take things over when my wife and I have spent the last year, including me renovating the shop that is centuries old (a lot of work!) but she is not down on any paper work the this business, only the hair salon.
Both shops are rented, just taken new 10 year leases out on both of them.

Any advice most appreciated.

Tell her to **** right off if its in your name
Get your wife to inform business partner, she is leaving said partnership and starting a fresh. From what youve said the former business partner will not be in business long after she leaves. All the regular clients will follow your wife
There are 5 main ways to dissolve a partnership legally :
  1. By agreement. Most partnership agreements will include clauses and procedures for the partnership to be dissolved. ...
  2. Dissolution by notice. ...
  3. By expiration. ...
  4. Death or bankruptcy. ...
  5. By the court.

Once former partner collapses business, your wife could continue with old premises

Problem being both business are located next to each other, Same building two properties in a semi detached style.
Trouble is she’s f’kin arrogant. Never once apologised for anything. Doesn’t cover her own salary let alone staff, bills etc so no it would fail immediately.

My wife flipped earlier and told her she is making her ill and she makes her feel like walking away from it all. The trouble is the business is nothing without my wife.
Her reaction was to raise her eyebrows and say I’m in trouble while walking off.
Thinks it’s her that should be apologised to by a client she text late at night while p!ssed telling her not to come into her salon!

Well you're going to have grasp the nettle at some point. Are you going to let the situation deteriorate?

Take some professional advice on dissolving the partnership, decide on that advice. Go forward knowing you have made the right decision for yourself
