Go on admit it!
What is the most stupid thing you have done when you are on your own and do not have to tell anyone?
Here is mine , this week i got a new petrol lawn mower so filled up with fuel and oil checked the fuel valve was on and proceeded to start it which it did not, read through the instructions twice still would not start so went to Youtube for any relevant videos and tried again and still it would not start, getting pissed off now thinking of the hassle of returning it when on closer inspection noticed the spark plug cap was off presumably for safety reasons when the mower was in transit.
Put it on and off we go ! felt very embarrassed even though no one else knew just had to get it off my chest.

I've been driving a LHD car 18 years now (vs 12 years in RHD) and I still regularly go to get in the wrong side of the car
I never once made a mistake driving a UK car on the wrong side of the road in Europe, but after 5 years driving in Germany, I started making mistakes when I went back to the UK. That was the point I decided it was a good idea to get a LHD car so that when I'm in a hire car in the UK, I swap side of the car and therefore sides of the road! Since then I've never made a mistake!

Fairly similar, I had a job clearing trees and scrub from underneath power lines in rural south west Australia. My workmate and I couldn't get a chainsaw started at all on site, so drove a 120 mile round trip to the chainsaw shop, only for the owner to click the chain brake on, and start it. We got some Pommie abuse too!

After a hard day at work where I spent most of the day running round the building waving my ID card at card readers to open doors, I went out to my car and waved my ID card at the door handle and wondered why nothing happened so did it again until I realised it was my car and I needed the fob.

Working in an accident repair company as a driver years ago. Went to pick up a customer's e class and I spent way too long trying to figure out a. If it had a handbrake and b. How to release it.

Same thing, jumped in a new scenic but took me ten minutes to find it had an e brake.
