Buying a SORN car and Taxing immediately to drive home?
Anybody know the answer to this. basically I have a car on SORN which my brother wants to buy and drive straightaway, now if I go with him to post office with mot and insurance can we sign log book over and tax it at same time on his name?
as obv if we post log book off will be 2 weeks or so before it comes back and he can tax.
cant find anything online.
any help is appreciated
Thanks

Yes, you can also do it online via the 12 digit number on the new keeper supplement or by phone

online or by phone I taxed a car last month and it took 5 mins to sort out when at the dealers - I am guessing it's the same for SORN as thats only a notification it's not currently being taxed so it should work the same as taxed - sold new tax except no refund will be due.

A bit of confusion here i think....
There are 12 digits on the new keeper supplement (green slip). What I was saying in response to your comment that add a ZERO if you have 11 digits is not the case. As on my Audi the first digit was a 9 and then the remainder 11 digits were same as the V5 Doc Ref No. as found on the front page of the LogBook. Therefore the first digit on the Green Slip will be different for each vehicle.
