Default Stupid cooker element......

Neff fan oven stopped working Monday night, so I ordered a new element, it's gone before.

It arrived after lunch so I set about fitting it.

This is what came out of it's place:

Never seen the likes of it, it was like metallic fur, when I touched it the element fell in three pieces.

That has fryed itself nicely.

You'd think being a Neff it would be reliable but perhaps not which is a shame as I have two Siemens ovens in my kitchen and they're all made in the same factory (Bosch too).

Good to know DIY repairs are possible though

Yes, the repair took all of ten minutes, including removal and replacement of the door to get at it better, and cleaning the floor of the oven before starting work.

Get a temp guage in there and make sure the thermostat is working.

NEFF are a top quality barnd, so if it its a genuine part that shouldn't happen that quickly.

Our old oven cooked its element...turns out it was getting up to 350degrees and the circulation fan had partially seized too!!

It was a genuine Neff.

I'm wondering if some oven cleaner has got on it?

Yeah, keep sprays and cleaners well away from it ........

It's a typical failure, any burnt out element looks like that ....

When mine went the ring looked more like a D. Glad it was an easy fix though.
