Here's mine, its a 6 point Safety 21 (Cusco) bolt in cage. I haven't had it long, hence the condition of the padding!

Im unsure on this also. Just doesn't seem to look right without the cross bars in the back. Although i do like the fact your dash can remain unharmed.

Its also worth thinking about what would happen to your head if it hits the cage without a helmet on.

My cage looks identical to the ones in the pics above and my interior light remains in and operational. Got my sunvisors trimmed black and cut the one edge down to clear the cage so they are up against the windscreen most of the time, but I can bring them down to block sunlight as you normally would. Only downside is they can't be put up against the headlining anymore. I'd definatly go for a padded cage though for the above reason.

All true.... My visors would fit, but I have to have them against the windscreen the whole time which gets pretty annoying, so I just bought a good set of sun glasses and that does the trick. My light also fits, but the cage is right up against it and I'm almost certain it will break over time... despite this, I love the cage and will not be taking it out any time soon.... It never gets in my way other than when I want to use my glove box!

Thanks chris666, however I think the blue cage is different... My front bar has a bend in it and would not fit the opposite way because of the rear view mirror.

I'll give it a try this weekend as my car is off the road because I'm getting my Gearbox re-built at the moment.

The rear view mirror can be mounted to the bar on cage.......

We run a Safety21/Cusco cage in our race car. Added some door bars to stiffen it up further but more importantly add more protection for the driver...

Bought the extra bits from Merlin Motorsport. Had to fettle the brackets to fit around the 'cage uprights as it's 40mm tubing rather than standard 38mm stuff.

Mine has a bend aswell ,had to remove the plastic cover on the mirror & the mounts for the sunvisors

Looks like you were right chris666 - I finally had a chance to swap my bar around...! Still fits with no interference at all...

Would anybody have any objection to me waking this thread up again??

I have spent quite a lot of time trying to find some decent images / information about cages for classic but there seems to be a distict lack of both.

What have you guys got out there please? And also where do you go to get them? Is there any websites that show pictures of the actual cages so you can get an idea how and where it fits?

Thanks

Paul

Recently bought and fitted a Cusco bolt-in cage into my Type R. I've only fitted the rear section as the front is not allowed on New Zealand roads.
