Black or Grey - you decide
Right, another trait of owning a 20 year old car is the fading exterior trimmings.
On my GTI which is graphite grey, they are particularly faded on the arches and bumper. So I have seen this on ebay. It's been recommended by a mate who says it's really good stuff.
Only dilemma now is deciding whether to go for a oem grey dye, or the more aggressive looking black dye. I'm edging towards the black as I fancy something different and have a dark coloured car.
Opinions please?
Piccy of the Pug to work from...
If anyone can attempt a photoshop, that would be appreciated and paid for with sexual favours

Andy,
I have just had a quick look on Just GTis site and seen this example
which looks like a grey one like yours and the bumper look more black than grey, but that could be the light.
I would say grey and keep the OE look

I have just thought of a couple of positives by dyeing it Grey.
1. The plastic badges on the rear quarters wouldn't be out of sync (as they would be if I chose Black)
2. The other rubber bits like the windscreen and window surrounds would fit in better. As the car has faded over time, glossy Black trimmings could age these parts considerably, where Grey would blend in well and freshen things up.
Think I may take a punt on the Grey afterall.

Well this is screaming out for an accurate pshop in black Choco If ure refreshing in either colour, it is also really worthwhile replacing the red metal strips, they're a piece of **** to remove, and it makes all the difference, so I 'freshened' them up to;
I like it in black actually

The paint is poor on them, they dull after time, even a good detail wouldn't help much as the paint is flat to begin with. They simply slide into place, u can lever an end out, n pull em out. I did this on my white GTi. Ok the bumpers do have to come off, but it's worth it. Replacement kit from a good pug tuner was cheap iirc to. Or you could paint em properly n finish Anyway do u like it in black?

believe it or not I was considering selling her, as with no power steering, it doesn't do my wrist much good.
Pm me if you want to know what she cost etc. Glad to discuss with you.

Thanks for the comments guys, but if you look closely, the trimmings really do need doing. Thy're patchy at best, and repeated coatings of trim detailer only mask the problem for a couple of weeks.
For the sake of £9.99 and a little postage, I'm going to give it a shot. I've decided on a U-turn and opted for black, as someone on the 205 forum showed me a nice black one and it's more a dark dark grey colour, which I want. I may even attempt the lip spoiler on the tailgate and the sunroof surrounds on the roof lining too.
