Well after 5.5 months of waiting, I looked out of my window Friday morning and saw this....
I'm loving it big time, big thanks to Gertjan Van De Velde.. It's looking great. And my first scooby has had me smiling big time for 2 days solid.. It's starting to hurt now :0)
And it took about 30 minutes for the new lenses to go on..
171 miles on the clock and every one's been great !

I Have the identical motor and I LOVE it. I had folks break into the house to steal the keys and they went to the trouble of finding the log book - only to set the alarm off (thankfully) while getting in - dime bars. I still have the orange lights tho. Are they really that gay? Also <everyone> what is the route to a performance upgrade for me 8K on the clock at the mo. You get used to the power so quickly its only when I drive other peoples cars I regain the respect for it - they are like Milk Floats. So anyone whats my next step performance wise and the cash. STi Frenchie - my dealer said there was no worries with regard to run in, so I have pumped it hard 'cause its so easy and fun - please don't tell me I've done any damage. My front tyres are now illegal - i'm hoping to hold out till winter if I can. What should I expect to pay for tyres (standard R17's) ? Yours, Well Chuffed.

Tyres - a lot of people like Toyos which seem the best value for money without compromising grip/safety. 215/40/17's are good on 17 inch rims (although IIRC it might be 215/45 on bugeyes). These can be had for £78 a corner from Scoobyworld and it will cost you a tenner or so at a local tyre garage to get them fitted and balanced.

BITC - my dealer confirmed what I'd read here, which was to take it easy for the first 1500km (or 1000 miles) - basically not go over 4K rpm, vary speeds a lot and not brake too hard unless in an emergency - like seeing plod whilst you are doing 200kmph

OK will do.. I had planned to keep below 4000 Rpm for the first 500 miles, but if it's advised that it's for the first 1000 miles, then 1000 it is....
Anybody know if i have to wait for my V5 to register with Subaru UK, and a local dealer, as it's an EU import ?
Cheers

DBT: AFAIK there is no such thing as registering with a local dealer. Just go there and look as if you might spend some money and they will be your friends
For warranty registration with Subaru I sent the following:
Registration number
VIN number
Vehicle Registration Document V5
Dealer invoice
Certificate of Conformity
Confirmation that warranty period is three years (blue paper)
to:
Subaru (UK) Ltd.,
Ryder Street,
West Bromwich,
West Midlands
and received a confirmatory letter.
Good luck.
