Are you sure they are fog lamps and not driving lights ?

For expletive the RB5 had driving lights fitted instead of fog lights as per the normal UK turbo

Pics of the lamps would help

shouldnt have, my sti had front foglights that worked on the switch regardless of high or low beam.

the foglight illumination led may have just failed though.

even if they are driving lamps why do they only work with the main (full) beam and why does the rear fog not work unless the others are on?

Oops sorry only read the first bit of the thread

Sound like a bit of dodgy wiring somewhere

It could be someone has taken the switches out and put the wires back on wring somewhere

So difficult to sort out without having the car and a multimeter handy

right this is the exact way its working at the minute

turn on sidelights -then turn on rear fog but that doesnt work but if you turn on the front fog switch then the rear fog switch the rear fog works but the fronts will not

with headlight dip beam none of the fogs front or rear work

with headlight main beam the front fogs work and so does the rear but the rear will only work when the front fogs are on are on

if i flash somebody the headlight main beam works and also the front fogs flash too?

anybody good with electrics wanna earn a few pennies for xmas as i need this sorting out

That's very mixed up: your description, I mean.

What do you mean by front fogs, driving lights, front spots?

Those three are VERY diffefrent.

Can we stick to:
sidelights,
headlight dip beam,
headlight main beam,
rear foglight,
front foglight,
please?

Unless you actually HAVE either driving, or spot lights fitted?

Hint: if you have, they will say PIAA, CIBIE, or HELLA, and NOT SUBARU on them.

Aha.......now the PIAAs were undoubtedly wired via a relay so as to come on only when main beam comes on.

The first thing is to ensure that any wiring done for that is UN-done, then ensure that the front fogs are plugged into the actual front fog wiring.

There are two methods of wiring driving lights: one uses the foglight switch, one doesn't.

You need to get someone who has done it USING the foglight switch, check what was done, and UN-do it first.

Then we can go from there.
