Help car wont turn OFF...!
Hi peeps something really odd happened today and I am freaking out..!
Got home from a 25min drive in the rain, turn engine off take the key out of the ignition and all my gauges, stereo, wipers in short everything that works of position 1 of the ignition switch (aka accessories position) it staying on.
been out a couple of times after this and still the same, have had to unplug the battery overnight and not very happy about that really.
any ideas?
The car is a 2002 wrx (bug)
Cheers in advance

I've never heard that happen on any WRX. Sounds like you have some water getting in to the wiring, possibly around the steering column where the plastic shroud is or the big connector on the back of the ignition barrel is buggered.

Right peeps this is seriously driving me insane now, ordered a replacement, ignition switch, replaced it and nothing, the car still remains on..! even if I unplug every last wire from the ignition switch and barrel assembly the car remains on, have had a look at the wiring round there and it all looks dry and in place.
Any Ideas....???

I ask because a faulty turbo timer that failed/got stuck in the keep engine running after ignition off routine would keep the engine going till the fuel ran out. I just wondered if there was one on your car that possibly you might not know about but the answer is clearly no.
Oh well...back to the drawing board!!

how bizare, and this has only just started i guess ?
so,have you started it with the key and then immediately turned it off by the key/removed key and it still does it, or have you only removed the key after a drive ?
wondering if the heat from a drive is doing something
if it does it when cold still/immediately after starting it and you have fitted a new ignition barrel, what was the bit like that plugs into the barrel ?
