Electrical fault on 96 impreza
Hi guys
Just got my first impreza.Got it given for free only problem is it has an electrical fault and im hoping its nothing serious. The lights and indicators work fine as does the windows. The radio, interior light, immobilizer and heaters dont work leads me to think I may need a new fuse box?????????? Any ideas?
The previous owner said that the ABS light came on so he took it to the garage, the mechanic told him the brakes were fine it was the sensor that was faulty and that he could by-pass it so he did.Not long after that everything stopped working so he took it back and the mechanic told him he needs a new fuse box. He's gave me the car for free so didnt want to spend on getting it sorted so now its down to me.

A new fuseBOX? Never heard THAT one before
However, car-electrics are a black art to most mechanics, so maybe that was the only bit he'd heard of
First job is to check fuses. Do you have a manual? If not, it's a case of pulling each and every fuse, ONE AT A TIME and checking with a multimeter or circuit tester. DO NOT rely on checking by eye
Oh, and find HOW he bypassed the ABS sensor, remove the bypass and see if that helps.

My ABS light came on, was ready for a huge bill but it was on because both brake light bulbs had gone, replaced and light went out. Just in case you haven't checked!!!!
