Unhappy battery change and now elec problem!!

Hi guys,

hopefully somebody can help

My old battery needed replacing and when I put in the new fully charged battery the car seems to be stuck in some reset scenario - something keeps tripping. As a result the lights on the dashboard flash rapidly and the alarm keeps going off.

Weirdly my car has a white loom from which one wire goes to each battery terminal via a fuse and then the other end plugs in somewhere. I did break one end as I was changing them over but did mend the circuit so there is no breakage.

I need to take the car to the garage but cant move it as i can't turn the engine.

Its obviously some form of elec problem that is causing it to trip - any help here?

Might be worth pointing out that on the old battery (not holding charge)
would work if you jumped it and left it running. As soon as ytou unpluigged the jump leads the electric's die again.

Hopefully somebody can help

Jai

am trying the leave battery disconnected overnight trick - see if that works?

is there a default code the alarm resets itself to? mine doesn't seem to override the system when entered via the keypad.
