SUBARU BOOST GAUGE
#2
just fitted mine, supplied by Cheam Motors for 157 pound. All I wanted to say was that it is a quality installation with high spec components and easy to follow instructions.
Thanks Cheam

157 quid Bit much for me. As long as you're happy with it though
I'm looking at sourcing some gauges from a member on here (won't go public with it until I know I'm allowed ) and should be getting a mech boost, elec oil temp and elec oil pressure for about 90 quid. OK, they aren't fitted and don't have a pod, but I've ideas for a custom pod anyway that may work out as a cheap alternative for some people.....
All in, I think I'm looking at about 150 quid for the three, fitted (admittedly by myself).
What make is the gauge? Have you any pics?
Sorry if this sounds like it is knocking your gauge (not meant to be), I will remove the post if you want and post it separately when I have more details on mine

Fitted it myself, took about 1 1/2 hours from engine off to road test. Very, very comprehensive instructions and easy to follow. Simple job and a great looking finished product. Go on you know want too....

Justin > if you want your gauge to dim with the dash, you need to wire in it's illumination after the dimmer switch. When wireing in extra gauges I tend to take a feed off the rear of the dash or heater surrounds, hth

Justin,
All the UK Euro scoobs and most other makes do not come with a dashlight dimmer as they do in OZ. In Europe we get a headlight adjuster switch, which allows the headlights to be raised or lowered which the Aussie cars don't get.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Oh didn't realise this Wrexy I don't think that gauge was made to dim anyway as i've got it hooked up to the cigarette lighter which dims & the gauge still doesn't, i give up
Cheers

Do you have the live feed for the gauge connected to the live feed for the lamp in the cigarette lighter? It should dim.
If it still isnt consider breaking the wire to the cigarette lighter lamp and connecting the lamp for the gauge in series i.e. live to one side of the broken wire and earth to other side. (Of course if one of your bulbs fails both will go out if you do it this way)
But, the best way would be to connect the live for the gauge into the output feed from the dimmer switch. Should have desired effect.

Justin,
Don't worry that you didn't know. How could you have known about the Euro cars? I found this out when I got here too. So no need for this smilie .

Just got my new wrx.. new to the marque and I'm starting to appreciate what I've been missing out on... This intro means I AM A TOTAL NEWBIE.. I would really like one of these gauges and am 'fairly' happy I could cope with the electrics.. but how does it connect under the hood? I know with some gauges you need to drill & tap which would strike fear into my heart..

Pretty simple to install.
