Question

Can anyone tell me where to get the best deal on a set of gauges to mount on the top centre dash of my MY99 turbo. I already have the pod and the gauges are easy to find i.e. K+S I just dont want the hassle of having to source a fitting kit . Thanks in anticipation of your help.

GGR sales them.
It's not the cheapest but the quality is good.

As you're in God's own county, you're welcome to come and see my efforts at fitting Autometer gauges. They were supplied by scoobymania, but you may as well get them from Real Steel in Middlesex...

I've got mechanical boost pressure, electrical oil pressure and electrical oil temperature. Fitting the boost gauge is a doddle. Oil pressure requires an adaptor, and I think I've got the right one after three attempts and 30 quid wasted. Scoobymania are making a new sump bung for the oil temperature sender.

The "pod" is available from GGR right now for 100 quid plus VAT, or Scoobymania will hopefully have one of their own about now for a bit cheaper.

I'm no mechanic, but if you want help with the boost gauge/pod fitting etc, let me know. I'm in Leeds.

Cheers,

Nick.

Thanks to you all especially Nick. I will contact you when I get some free time to discuss things further. Thanks again and I think I am going to establish some good contacts on this excellent site.

Mike,

You're welcome. I spent around 4 hours yesterday fitting my gauge pod from GGR and finally summoning the courage to fit the oil pressure sender myself.

What can I say - it all works! I'll put a web page together with step by step instructions.

I am mechanically inept and do not really like tinkering with anything mechanical, but electrics are fine to a certain extent.

Total cost has been about 230 quid.

Hi Chiark,
Was just wondering if you can help me.
I have e-mail you off line but seen not to have recieved your reply??
Was just wondering if any one can tell me where the original sender is so that I can t-piece it with the oil pressure sender. A picture would be helpful, if possible. My car is a 95 UK turbo
Regards
G.
p.s I am also looking for a tripple gauge like the one for the 98 but for a 95. any one seen one???

Hi Greenking,

Sorry, I didn't check my Hotmail account... D'oh.

The factory oil pressure switch is located underneath the alternator. If looking down from the front of the engine bay, it's underneath and to the left hand side with a single connector coming off it.

I've not bothered with a "T" piece as it is set for something ridiculously low - by the time it lights, the damage will have been done. However, I did need an adaptor and will post the details when I'm sure which way around it goes as I had three attempts before I got the right one

Picture coming this afternoon, along with an idiot's guide.

Cheers,

Nick.
