I just renuied my insurance and got it for 800 quid but that only cos the family use admiral multi car. Raise ur exces brings it down a bit too

Consider a different car, eg a Celica GT4, you'll find the insurance price will be significantly cheaper. Imprezas are incredibly high risk cars for insurers.

Thanks but I only have my eyes on a rb5 or a s2 rs turbo, got a quote at £900 full comp with my company. A 200bhp cvh will be the same 0-60 as a standard rb5. Just need to think if it's worth the extra money.

Was going to call sky today. Any point?

Who was that from? The same company who quoted a guy on here £900, then put his price up to £2600 when he tried to set the policy up?

I'd be amazed if they honour that £900

Nic mate. I'm with them now

£1200 with no mods
£900 as I'm on a modified shceme?

It was £105 a month to transfer over to this for 2 months of the rest of my policy

after 2 months i have another year ncb and 22 next month

Valid for 14 days she said.

Brilliant really as the cheapest I found online was £1600.

Clearly the "online discount" people offer is a load of rubbish

insurance companies have a legal right to just rip us off.

cheapest fully comp on rb5 was £4900

so the difference from a rb5 and a rs turbo is £4000

love to know who works this out lol

Unfortunately just becuase you say some of the above doesn't detract away for facts, figures and statistics. That's what insurers use, otherwise every guy who did drive like an idiot would give the "I'm a saint behind the wheel, honest squire" and insurers would go bust.

Good luck anyway bud

Just drive without insurance
The penalties don't seem that harsh as they keep re offending

Unfortunately that's pretty much correct, there needs to be a proper deterrent in place.

A young lad can buy a car for £300
He can drive it without a licence, Tax, MOT
and insurance until he gets caught.
Then his car will be seized and crushed and he will get a fine (£120 ish) and points (on thin air) or a ban

It would appear in the short term its a no brainer

My 18year old sons Mini mayfair 1986
Insurance £2100
Tax £ 130
MOT £ 52

.... and if they have a crash the last company who insured the car will have to pay the costs, and take the driver to court, where the judge will make the driver pay back £1 per week, meaning the insurers will never get their money back..... enless they put their prices up.

Simple mate - by a old banger, panda 750, 1.0 fiesta etc.. Insure it fully comp so you are covered to drive any vehicle 3rd party, then pay for someone a little old than you to insure ur scooby fully comp.

You now have 3rd party fire and theft insurance on your scooby, and could still claim if you have an accident that doesnt involve another car.

Loop hole i've been using since i was 19, i actually insure it properly now as im 26 but there was no way i was gonna pay 3.5k at 19, it came to about £900 quid with two policies

a) It's technically illegal
b) No insurers give 'driving other cars' to under 25 year olds now, as people (ie people like you) abused it, so the insurers scrapped it.

yeah i no what your saying mate, i know a few people who did it. I never claimed on it though, and the £10,000 i saved myself could of bought a new car over.

I dont really see the harm in it though, it means your driving your car at your own risk but your covered if you hit anyone else, only person to loose out really is you if you total your car.

Well said. I suppose by being both an insurer AND and enthusiast on this site you can pick and choose who you wish to offer cover to when they call. I presume the above would be on the, erm... NO list

I'm not sure the Police or insurers would see it like that, but i do understand where you're coming from.

Although by the time you've bought a second car to insure, and paid for two policies/tax/MOT etc, it might not be 'that' cheap.
