Question Anyone doing 2car policies, or honour NCB on second car??

Buying a commuting car, i've phoned Tesco and the best they can do is Temporary Additional Vehicle for 90 days, at a cost of £98.

Obviously before this time is up i need to have found a viable way to insure both my cars.

The problem is I am 21, so starting a new policy on a Fiesta is £1100!!!! I have 2yrs NCB on my scoob, which already costs £1800 with Tesco.

I really don't want to spend a fortune on insuring the second car, as it's meant to be a cheap option to services every month or so (+ tyres + fuel + brake pads blah blah) as i do 80 miles day.

Don't REALLY want to cancel my scoob policy with Tesco, as it was a lot cheaper than elsewhere, and I am halfway thru the year so it would waste 1/2 a years NCB!

Anyone got any ideas?

Andy

Andy - some will claim to be able to add a second vehicle on your policy, but when I rang around the quotes I got from these sorts of places were in the same ball park as those that didn't.

I's just ring a few places and see what you get quoted - I saved 100 quid or so when I insured my second car

Lightbulb Dual policy

I had heard from a friend of mine who's a biker that "Bennets" insurance are moving into this area. If i remember the conversation correctly, as long as you are the only driver of the 2 vehicles you can insure both vehicles on the same policy. There reasoning being that you can only drive 1 vehicle at a time. Naturally you pay the cost for the most expensive of the two but was assured that the second vehicle was at a minimal cost.

Mind you, given that insurance companies are lower on the "backstabbing, avoiding ****bags" totam poll than lawyers, this could be complete pants.

IIRC Liverpool Victoria gave me 3 years NCB on a second policy when my Full NCB was on the scoob (insured through LV). The 2nd car was a cheap runaround and I was sole driver.

I don't know, but my next door neighbour has him and his ex-wife (don't ask) insured on his 2 cars on one policy and it was only £110 to add the second car. Not sure who he uses, but he's old enough to get cheap insurance (40-ish)

Im 21 as well and have been looking into getting a second car (so no ncb), got some good prices out of elephant for a Pug 306 diesel ~450 tpft which went up to ~580 for a turbo diesel. Might be worth looking into at 80 miles per day and you can pick early ones up quite cheap now.

One tip, elephant seem to reduce the price considerably if i add my mum on as a named driver - god knows why but I've heard a lot of people say the same too.
