I have searched the old posts but would interested in some more feedback.

How much has the insurance increased for you on a WRX with the PPP added - Tesco are trying to charge me £400!

Hello CupraT looks like we have a fair few things in common. I'm also with Tesco, they charged me an extra £150 for 7 months left to run on current policy by adding PPP to my WRX.

£400 is way over the top, it all depends who answers the phone, the 1st adviser said I definately do not need a tracker fitted and there is no extra cost for PPP as it was a dealer fitted option. I phoned back 20 minutes later to confirm. 2nd adviser said I definately do need to have a tracker fitted and PPP is an extra £150. Once my 7 months are up I'll be trying Subaru insurance and L&V. (Don't forget to tell them PPP is a 18% engine performance increase, prehaps Tesco quoted you for over 20% increase)

I have just purchased a new STi8 with PPP, and have insured it with Privilege. Initially I did not inform them of the modifications, after advice from I let them know, and luckily there was no increase in premium.

By the way this has all happened before I pick up the car this weekend coming, and the mods are from new.

Dr Steve,

Make sure you check the policy very carefully...we have had customers who have had similar quotes, only to find that when the policy arrives the car is shown as a Subaru Impreza STI Type UK Prodrive (i.e. 2002 model in standard form)...the reason for this is that in many cases the insurers still don't have the MY03 STI Type UK showing on their screens...

Thanks for the advice. I will check it, but when speaking with them I did state that this was the Performance Pack (more HP) and also 18" wheels are fitted. I have the paperwork through already before telling the about the mods and they have the car correctly listed as a 2003 model. I hope they will not have changed the model without asking.

Cupra2 - Yes about 3 weeks ago, I've now done 1,300 miles so I'm really beginning to enjoy myself. Once you have run your one in, we'll have to go for a bit of a blast to see how they compare. They can vary by up to 0.2 bar of turbo pressure, so when you take it in for the 1,000 mile service ask them to up the turbo boost to the maximum within Subaru guidelines. I remember my old MY00 ran at 0.8 bar and they moved it up to an average 0.95 bar. I'm sure you will be having a fair few sleepless nights until Saturday - but it's all worth it. - Good luck!

Cool

02 WRX with PPP added meant another £240 from Elephant - worth it but will be looking for cheaper insurance come renewal time.
