There was a game in the muppet forum a few years back to produce the highest insurance quote. It was a bit unfair as RUM* and Jerry* joined in from Schofields and so could 'rig' the results.

I think the record stood at £70,000 per year for a 17 year old driver with 1 drunk driving conviction, no no claims living in Bradford and owning a Ferrari F40.

I brought an M3 EVO about 18 months ago, 29, 4yrs no claims, good history etc,

my first port of call for insurance was BMW motor insurance, thought fair enough, they should sort me out a deal.

£10,360 per annum sir !!!!

£1200 from Tesco, much better value.

My best quote came last year at £2800 FC, not bad considering i was 37. oh, and they wanted a compulsory tracker and Cat 1 alarm fitted ...that was for a Kreg 93 wrx.

For some reason the phonecall didnt last very long..

I've got a mate (this was a few years ago however) with a Porsche 911 Turbo 4 worth about 60K, he started paying about 1200 quid a month (so 14,400 a year) for his insurance and that was after extensive shopping around and getting quotes of like 20/25k a year.

But his history with cars was impressive, in a 5 year timeframe:

1. BMW 318i Sport, stolen, never recovered.
2. BMW 330CI, ran over a railway sleeper late at night on the M5 after it had fallen off a lorry, car was written off as the rear axle had been ripped off and the chassis was f*cked. It didn't go against him as such as the police investigated and found out who the haulage company was, I think he even got a few grand in compensation out of court.
3. BMW M3, stolen, recovered, undamged, but then later wrapped around a tree by him.
4. 3 seperate speeding fines worth 9 points and a 6 month ban.

All the cars were bought new.

He's a barrister in London earning about 250,000 a year so the cost isn't an issue, but I'm not suprised he switched marques after all of that!

I was quoted £20000 for a year old Impreza Turbo when I was 20 with a £950 excess (that was the minium!!)

Now its more like £1800ish but still need to get it better! Near 25 so it might come down some more
