Question

this text 'borrowed' from RoShamBo's thread, with his permission. Thanks Ro.

OK, here's what the group buy would be about:

---- BEGINS ----
Fronts

Porsche 993 Carrera 4-piston-aluminium callipers, 36/44 mm piston dia.
Porsche 993 Carrera rotors, 304 x 32 mm vented and cast-in holes
Porsche 993 Carrera genuine pad set for street use ( 62,5 cm2 )
custom adapters for a.m. callipers, CNC machined from highest grade steel alloy customer brake bells for a.m. rotors, CNC machined from highest grade aluminium alloy custom stainless steel coated PTFE lines for front & rear
price: complete kit including all needed parts #1300 + vat(#1527.50)
10mm spacers are needed to fit this kit with 16" rims

for 17" rims w/ min. 365 mm ID
Porsche 996 Carrera 4-piston-aluminium MONOBLOCK callipers,
Porsche 993 bi-turbo rotors, 322 x 32 mm vented and cast-in holes
Porsche 996 Carrera genuine pad set for street use
custom adapters for a.m. callipers, CNC machined from highest grade steel alloy customer brake bells for a.m. rotors, CNC machined from highest grade aluminium alloy custom stainless steel coated PTFE lines for front & rear

Special price: complete kit including all needed parts #1260 +vat(#1480.50)
This kit is also available with the 4 pot GT3 MONOBLOCK calliper & GT3 pad set @ #1500 + vat(#1762.50)

All 993 callipers are available in Red or Black, 996 in Red only, complete with mov'it scripting

These kits use genuine Porsche parts, and are German TUV approved.

The rotors are forged complete with their unique ventilation system, the only machining they undergo is surface grinding, eliminating stress risers, and making them very durable under heavy use. (very high resistance to cracking & distortion).

Coupled with the Porsche 4 piston aluminium callipers system, they guarantee high braking forces, with reduced braking distances, and "Fade Free" repeated high speed braking.

These brake have been developed for heavy street cars, not lightweight race cars, so they are equally effective on high performance cars, as well as heavy high security vehicles. Developed for high performance road use, they will give you confidence to use your cars full performance on both road & track.

Fitting is a straight forward job for a competent auto engineer as the kits come ready to bolt on with all necessary fittings. Fitting time around 2 hours per axle. NOTE: Some light machining may be necessary to the vehicles calliper mounting points, in some applications
---- ENDS ----

for more info, have a look at the Movit website.

So, porsche brakes on a scooby, cool!

so, who would be interested in a group buy for this?

I've spoken to Richard @ JAS Traction, who are the UK distributors for Movit and he says he's open to a group buy.

Richard states that the 'special' price kit is probably the best for the scooby, as it's been designed for vehicles of the subaru's weight. You can of course have the GT3 calipers if you want, it's up to you, but you might outbrake yourself, which might be quite cool.

Richard says that the discounts would be as follows.

for 2 -5 kits we'll get a 5 percent discount.
for 6 - 10 (or above) we'll get a 10 percent discount.

So, any interest in this? If so then either reply here, or email me (see my profile).

Thumbs up

I am in !!!

So that is £ 1332.45 inc VAT assuming 6 or more people !!!!!

Fitting time has been quoted as approx. 2 hours so the whole job should come in for £1400 inc labour and Race brake fluid.

I know this subject has been done to death lately but the Movit setup has been reported as the cheapest kit maintain for track/fast road. Due in part to the reasonable cost of pads ( cheaper and easier to source ) and the incredibly hard wearing/unwarpable disc's.

ChristianR,
Was just thinking about you, as I belive we currently have the same wheels (16 inch 5 spoke speedline type wheels) and I'm probably selling mine.

This is a point, as I've spoken to Richard @ Jas Traction, and if you have 16 inch wheels then you will more than likely need spacers, both front and rear, and this is what put me off the kit for 16 inch wheels as many people said that spacers were not a good idea. As the AP 4-pot kit would have been a very close fit I decided to bite the bullet and get a set of 17 inch wheels (MY01 wheels to be precise) and thus thought I'd go for the movit kit.

hope this makes some kind of sense.

If you have any queries about the kit for 16 inch wheels then I'd suggest you email Richard @ Jas Traction. His email address is:

Good idea mate. bigger alloys not only look better, but as you say, no spacers needed.

to be honest, I don't have one!

The thread is really to see what interest there is, and take it from there if there is enough interest.
