Well my other half is on mine with LV when she was under 30. In fact it made the insurance cheaper as cohabitting instead if single wreckless male.

Ian,
yup it is the M postcode, i know ive got one too
Move down the road into an SK postcode (less than 1 mile) and my insurance drops by over 300 quid
To me it doesnt make sense, to someone else it probably does but i think a thief would drive an extra mile for a performance car..... BTW i pay 1032 fully comp protected, modified MY00 (PPP alloys, brakes and downpipe, 34yrs old).

My parents have just moved to a small village outside southport, is there any probs insureing it from there address. This is soon to become my second car so I cantsee myself paying 1200 a yr for it to sit in the garage for 9 months of the year

Ian

Ian,
What you are suggesting is illegal. You have to insure the vehicle at the address where it spends most of its time

Insurance companies hold the right to void any insurance claim if they feel you are lying about the location of the vehicle.

Yes but as this will be my second car it will be spending the majority of its time over there locked up in a garage...it will only spend time with me at weekends and when I am on Holiday from work...is it still illegal?

Sorry Ian I misunderstood what you were asking If you are going to keep the car at your parents address then there is nothing illegal about it

My car spends 60% at mine in Brighton and 40 % in Worthing at my girlie's. My insurance company said to me that I HAVE to insure my car at the address where it spends most of its time. As this is Brighton the premium is quite a bit more as Brighton is a higher risk then Worthing as it is a city

My advice would be to inform your insurance company anyway. It does not hurt to be sure.

Darren
