Limited mileage policies - know any good ones?
#1
Hello there.
My Scoob currently lives in my garage and is not being used, apart from the odd whizz around the block to keep everything in good order (it's for sale).
Are there any policies available out there to suit such circumstances ('classic car' type policy?).
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Not sure if Adrian flux still does "agreed value" policies - I had one on my old tr7 v8 convertible (250+bhp 4.5 litre) fully modded race car - valued at £6k cost less than £300 per year to insure agreed value, limited mileage of 6k...

Those are harsh requirements - I heard of one other company that required a garage (though not a Tracker as well) - Tracker doesnt cut down the big risk of a car hitting someone... which is where the big costs potentially are....

Steve,
Unfortunately those are the requirements via ourselves for the above type of vehicle....its a limited market...and the underwriters specify this as a requirement....basically if it doesn't fit the above...or the owner is not prepared to accept this then we won't be able to assist....however, if he can, then we will probably be able to assist...with a decent price...
...I was only offering an alternative *s*...

The car is not fitted with a Tracker and I do not intend to fit one - I am selling the car!!!
If you have a policy that is based upon a very limited mileage, probably short-term (approx. 1 month) and the car being garaged at night I would be interested. Please let me know.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Point taken...
I have neither - Tracker seems to be becoming more of a requirement these days
A previous company stated that a car would need to be garaged by 10.30 pm, so if I forget and it was nicked at 10.31 pm that would be silly.....
I pay around £1000 for a second car I drive about 3000 miles a year in - so thats 33p a mile in insurance alone - I may insure under my Fathers name this year (I'm in my 30's!) and just drive it 3rd party only and get insurance on another car (lets say a Fiesta that I just bought for £50 - thats allows me to drive other vehicles)
What a good idea......
Ah...just thought I would'nt be covered as I'd still own the Scooby and I think the insurance companies have a get out clause to stop this somewhere....
