Are these any good?
After a bit of advice folks.
One of my front door speakers hasn't worked since I got my car.
I thought they'd probably just be the standard Subaru speakers but found these behind the door panels:-

They don't sound up to much as is ie. not amped.
Questions is I'm I better getting an amp for these or just removing them and putting non amped 6.5" speakers in there with adaptors i.e.:-

Whatever you fit you need something that isn't too deep on the front doors otherwise they won't clear the glass. You can make your own adapters using MDF and you can alter the thickness to suit the depth of your speakers

yeah best thing to do is make some mdp rings or ebay and buy em !!! i have 1x 8inch and 2x 6.5" in each front door !!! and 8inch ones in the rear doors be suprised what u can fit in them with a bit of carefull planning and imagination !
alpine are ok but there are plenty on the market if u are not happy with the sound !
focal , rainbow , kicker, spl dynamics , hertz are all top notch .

Thanks for the feedback.
These are currently fitted in my car as shown and running from an Alpine CDE-112RI HU:-
Do I still need MDF rings?
Also any recommendations on amp/spec required to power these?
Cheers

they look like a nice fit. a bit of sound proofing around the door might help, but if your running a stock headunit, they wont sound any good. the only other thing that might cause issues if there not wired up properly
peronally, i wouldnt bother spending money on new speakers just yet, i think your money could be better spent elsewhere to get a better sound.

they look a good fit, but many people make the mdf rings as it (imho) makes the bass response better & if you buy some dynamat stuff to put in the doors that also helps with the sound quality. Good amp would be 4 channel so you can run all four speakers (eventually upgrading the rears perhaps with a matching pair to the fronts). Again an alpine amp or JL depends on your budget, would not recommend a fli or boss etc, they do the job but for a little extra you can get far better quality.
