Thumbs up

LollyS,

Thanks for the reply mate, it's a Sony CDX C5000R. Trouble is I think it has a 12 month warranty

Shall I clean the laser diode ??? Will that help ?

Cheers Phill C

PS They don't pay enough in Halford for you guys to own Scoobies do they ?

My head unit seemingly won't play CD anymore, Backups or original The radio and six disk MD multi changer seems fine, but the internal CD isn't working, just displaying "error" after a couple of seekings of seeking....

It used to refuse to play CD once warm (80 mins or so) and starts skipping when going over bumps. Didn't used to do that

Is the laser pickup dirty / dusty or is the headunit shagged ?

Cheers Phill C

Tried that, all the setting dis-appear and the display changes colour, but that's it

Had it for 13 months, oh that's about right then.....

You could try an Allsop cd laser cleaner. Failing that you'll have to have it repaired.
Gutted.

Wink

I wouldn't use anything mechanical, like the old VCR tape head cleaner, too abrasive for the heads / laser diode. I'll try cleaning it with cotton wool and methonal

Thanks for the help guys.

Phill C

Not gutted really as I can get a nice Alpine if I can't fix it

Nah don't drive a scooby, skyline though! lol

Yeah i'd go for the cotton wool bud mate much kinder, failing that your looking at an average cost of £70 to get it repaired.
