Cool Infinity BassLink Sub, Boot Build Pictures

So right, you think I am going to loose my boot space to a big box!

I also put two rolls of sound insulation down.

This little box packs quite a punch, 200watt 10in Speakers one active the other passive.

It wont make your ears bleed or crack concrete, but is loud enough.

No rattles, the technology has sorted it, well recommended.

Got it from
http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...oducts_id+1538

Its even got a free wiring kit…………………………..

£144.99

Any Comments welcome....................

jimbobc: ScoobyTal: Yep it is very adjustable, 50 to 120Hz Cross over Gain and Boost.

You can make it over powering or as I like it filling the bassline ,over the top of my Magnex 6X4 which has been held back by the deadening.

The front install was the GaryCat 6000cs with Chiark's and my links in the Ajax posts on that page.

SEE:

Sticky threat at the top of, ICE Forum Purpose and FAQ - read before posting

The standard head unit is very poor along with the speakers, each contributing 50% to its total downfall.

With these replaced you will have a lovely sounding system, until you drive your car, then you have to compensate for the zorst as it masks the sound leaving you with high frequency sound.

The sound deadening and the Bass then follows the music, reconstituting the overall sound.

Nice.

Oh if you want to sound like a Chav, it will THUD & BOOOOM in your boot!

*****: yep it is nice, In my humble opinion its not worth spending loads of money on ICE and you would be better spending the extra if you have it on either a home stereo or a home cinema television.

The Scooby is the wrong environment to listen to music, having said that, there is no reason not to overcome its short falls, and make those motorway etc, drives a little more present.

My system is simple and easy DIY job, thanks to Chiark and GaryCat’s work throughs.

Sony head CDX F7700 with a single din Forester pocket, Infinity 6000CS and an Infinity BassLink X.

After going round the Scooby car shows, I really can’t believe so few owners have done this simple upgraded, take that standard system out, you don’t know what you are missing.

The difference is amazing!.

I was at the NBO2 and noone seems to take much interest in ICE...
I suppose everyone listens to the exhaust instead...
I have already installed the setup you have in another scooby, the owner was very happy with the cost/ improvement ratio.

Cool

*****: I also went to the NBO2, and found the same.

I went to J.A.E. Billing and J.A.P’s. at Thorsby this year ,but I was shown how to take the carpet up and feed wires by one of the members of SIDC/Soobycity.

I wonder if its down to the performance mod’s being done by garages and owners frightened to get hands on.

Of course some owners think their standard system is fine, and they don’t know what they are missing.

We do!

Ajax, you just hit the nail on the head for me.... I've never changed a car stereo and dread the thought of frapping something up on my car, you mention about running wires / lifting carpets is this easy for you to post how it's done or would I need to actually watch someone do it?

I am desparate to change to stereo system though & after seeing your install I feel more confident

Take it a stage at a time.

when you are at your local Subaru dealer buy a Forester pocket part number 66128SA000. about £15.00

See my post for a picture.
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=324366
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buy an MP3 player Sony, Pioneer, Alpine are all good

I went for the Sony CDXF7700 (Reference #2751)
Sony CD Tuner
Price: £224.99

http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/Sony_CD_Tuner.html

See my posts:
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=341819

Get a unit with a Sub out, so that you can adjust the sub volume later on when fitted

Buy a Subaru - ISO connector lead (Autoleads Part # PC2-44-4)

http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/cgi-bin/...ml%23a443#a443

Price: £9.95

Or http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/defa...th=292_315_580

That’s all the bits for a head unit swap and will give you a 50% improvement.

All it takes is 2 screws to pop the drinks holder out and pop the front panel out with yer fingers easy, 6 screws hold the unit in, then you just unplug the block connector and stick the adaptor between your new unit and the car cable, only other things to unplug are the Arial and earth.

The head unit is bolted in through the existing fixings and you have to trim the sides of the pocket holder and screw to fit, nothing difficult there

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phase 2

General consensus of opinion here is don’t bother replacing the rear door speakers

Front door Speakers

Have a look at the first thread in ice, have a look at my amended posts,
I went into Halfrauds and listened to the speakers on the wall, some cheaper.

Infinity was the best, so I fitted the 6000CS as per the GaryCat work through.

They were easy to fit and the collar made of MDF was easy to make, because its so soft, you will need a jigsaw to do it.

He tweeter was replaced and the cross over fitted, but I hear some people just wrap it in bubble wrap and tape it to the inside of the door

Two rolls of sound insulation is a benefit, and worth doing to the front door skins

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...p+cPath+48_221

£14.99 per roll

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phase 3

Re sub: its top notch, took a couple of Chavs out for a spin and they did not ask me to turn it up, LOL

No problem installing, stuck a piece of MDS onto the boot with No Nails and screwed it down,

Lined the boot with two more rolls of sound deadening.

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...p+cPath+48_221

£14.99 per roll

Wires easy, power from the battery and Phonos to the head unit, using the amp switch wire to trigger the amp when you turn the head unit on.

All the wires came with the BassLink kit from

http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...oducts_id+1538

£144.99

This is my old setup, the Rockford sub is now on the scrapheap, but i'm in the process of making a new box for my RE SX12 sub. Sub run on a Viper D600.1 amp, sounded really good at the time, hope the RE sounds as good

Technology has com on a long way, no reason to give up yer boot space, unless your into big boxes

Give the BassLink X a listen, it might save you a lot of time, effort & dosh.

I really can’t think why anyone would fit anything else, unless they want a mobile Concert or P.A. system to entertain a field full of Chavs.

No offence meant, just don’t understand why the big Box?

I'm just a bass head chaps, I agree that if you don't want the 'concert' effect you don't want a huge box and amp ETC. This sub was run with very little distortion thanks to the Directed Viper amp class D mono block, 600Watts RMS. Somehow i don't think that the Infinity could produce the same bass as this old sub did 20Hz no problem crisp and clear, even at low volumes, you don't have to have this system turned up to full to enjoy the full range of the audio spectrum that it can deliver, I just find it very good for unwinding after a stressful day at work, crank up the volume and forget the day you've had

Having read your review of the basslink it sounded just what I was after. I had never bothered putting in twin 10's in a bandpass box back in this scoob after I took them out my RB5 cos I was fed up of having no boot space.

Fitted the basslink yesterday and have to say I am very impressed that something that size can be so good and at such a good price (£144).

While I was at it swapped the head unit for Pioneer 8400MP,
http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...products_id+84

Just waiting for the DAB unit and forester pocket to arrive and I will be finished.

Well done for the recomendation. Well impressed.

RobP: Thanks for the feedback, you never know when you recommend what people’s perceptions are of what is loud and what is fast on here.

The bassLink X is not a compromise; it is a powerful quality product, better than some large boot builds, as for the price, a bargain at £144.00

Just does not look as impressive in the same way as an old world, full boot build.

Its deep and loud, makes me happy, and I am pleased you are too.

Did you sound deaden the boot area?

Top tip: set the high pass filter on your head unit to cut below 75Hz and set the BassLink X to low pass 75Hz and below.

This will save your main door speakers from bothering with the low frequency sound and concentrate more around mid range, the low stuff that is more non directional, this will come from the back boot area masking the zorst noise in the car.

Works for me

Didn't bother with the sound deadening yet. May revisit when I get my afterburnner exhaust

Have already sorted out the crossover settings. Set the basslink to full but the use the electronic crossover on the pioneer to drop the output down to either 80hz or 50hz depending on what I am playing. switched off loudness and EQ on the head unit as they arn't nescessary with the basslink and have then set front hpf to 50hz. This works for me

As you said you can never tell what other peoples perception of loud etc is but having had infinity speakers before I didnt think I could go to far wrong.

Thanks again mate
