Well no recommendations, so I went out and got the Alpine CDA9833R unit. Seems a decent piece of kit.

Kenward mask unit and CD changer will now be up for sale. Mail me if your interested.

I still want to replace the front components if anyone has any recommendations for those?

Yep, that's the one. Picked it up for £320 at the motor show on Sunday.

I've been told about Lanzer components for the front. Any experiance with these?

Id recommend either a Alpine CDA-9831R at £300 or the CDA-9833R at jus over your £400 budget. Both are real quality head units.

Just put a pioneer DEH5500 in my 04 STI Uk together with the silver forester pocket.

Also had the front speakers changed to pioneer "accelerate" 13cm with door sound deadening.

Wow, what a difference!

Speakers approx 120 notes with sound deadening
Head unit 220 notes fitted
Forester pocket 12 quid.

Money well spent!

Well the Scoob is in to have the CDA 9833R fitted as we speak, so just the speakers left to do. Probably just do the fronts, as I have 2 10" Kenwood Subs in the boot for the bass, and want some quality sounds up front now.

The person I got to fit my Kenwwod Mask unit installed everything including the changer in the boot, so for the sake of £20 I let him fit the head unit and mess around disconecting the cd changer etc and putting all the cables back for the amp and subs,
