Default VF23 or VF30

Hi all I'm upgrading a few things on my99 classic but not sure which turbo to go for I have been offered a vf30 and a vf23 I have read that the vf30 I'd a better all round turbo can anyone confirm
I plan to get 300-330 bhp if I can are both turbos capable of this ???

Also been offered a td05 but not found much info on these

Thanks in advance

Im not 100% sure but I think the vf23 will max out around 330bhp with boost coming on at about 3100 - 3200rpm.
VF30 will go to about 350 - 380bhp and boost comes in a touch earlier - 2900 - 3000rpm.
Both capable of about 20psi of boost.

Like I said Im not 100% sure though

I think the VF23 is standard on the classic STIs and can spool faster than a TD05 but can't hold boost as long as the TD05. I'd be inclined to think that the VF23 would be like a hybrid TD04?? Don't know much about the VF30 myself. I'm sure someone will be along with more info!

TD05s are top entry so you'd have to get an already modified one or else pay to have it modified to front entry. That is of course if your car is front entry at the moment. There are also TD05 front entry housings available from Kinugawa that fit straight on.

Vf28 (sti 6 or p1 turbo) would be a good upgrade on a uk classic. I would also look at a vf34/35 (newage sti) turbos.

Made 324/310 on vf23 its a standart turbo on V3 sti , and made 329/324 on a Vf30 , they both similar turbos spooling almost same as quick, thought vf30 is a newer item and should last longer , but not the case.... VF30 - 380 bhp? ...dream on ..... No one would bother with td05 18gs and such if standart jdm bug sti vf 30 would make those numbers..

It's not about the number mate , it's about how it drives, torque is what it makes a fast car not bhp.... Afaik different engines make different bhp....

The classic STI would do the job , but the new age STI ones are dirt ceap these days. 100 quid or so , so i'd get them... Just check if you dont need anything else to fit them as i cant remember now if its a straight swap... 550's are good at around 380 bhp . Google it bud , loads of info regards this...
