Recentley got to see a new STI Japan MY01 spec it has a VF30 turbo in place. Now what is this turbo and how does it compare to a VF23 ?

 

I asked about this turbo a while ago not knowing it was the one used on the STI, however no one appeared to know anything about it.

Some of the early pictures showed the STi with a VF29 turbo, which is basically a new version of the VF24/28 with a more modern impeller design. I presume that the VF30 is similar in nature, but not sure, could try to find out if it's important....

I have found out some interesting info about the VF30 turbo, suffice to say that going by the spec it should work *really* well.... I cannot say any more than that, it's a bit hush hush. If you require further information may I suggest that you talk to IHI / TurboDynamics / BRD ?
