Default Overheat

Hi CHaps!
I've got a problem with the car and I can't find a simular thread In here so here it goes.
My classic started to overheat when I was driving along in a town...and it also pushed water out of the header tank by the power steering pump.
It happened for the first time and firstly I thought it might be a thermostat but it was recently changed with a water pump...the cars heater also blows the cold air...and when she's idle with open cap it doesn't overheat..
I tried to top up some water with a heater on cause I thought It might be an air lock...but It didn't help..
I'm just praing it's not a head gasket..

Thanks in advance

100% head issue. If you feel the bottom hose and rev the engine you will feel the coolant system pressuring up. It's wont show on ideal as much as the pressure isn't as high, when your car is boosting the pressure in one of the cylinders is escaping

I would suggest a compression test or a sniffer test looking for hydrocarbons in your coolant

if its coming out of header tank (not via the pipe to the expansion bottle) you have a leak.
if its coming out by battery you have hg issues.

if its coming out of header tank (they are prone to fail) this means its loosing coolant and that could be whys its over heating.

thats some serious pressurization then! either tank is worn and not holding the lid or the system is way beyond 1.1 bar due to gasket(s).

I thought that it might be just a cap..because tank is quite new...cause I don't really wanna admit it's a head gasket :-(

Hi there again guys!

after four months I took the car out of the garage...and want to check the cooling system..because I don't think it's a head gasket. .. engine only has 70k miles...
so where would you say should I start?
How to tell that whether radiator is blocked or thermostat is stuck...or what other options do I have.

Thanks for your opinions.

I think it's still a headgasket issue go and take it to your nearest tuner for a sniff test as all symptoms are suggesting HG failure some cars on here have had HG failure with a lot less miles than yours

As above, sniff test /hyhrocarbons need tested to rule out the head gasket then if its not that...then start to look elsewhere but its a bit pointless doing it the other way round IMO

You say the water pump and thermostat were changed?

Sounds to me like you have an air lock.

Drain down and refill AFTER reading how to do it properly on here.

There is no reliable way to bleed the system, so do as above.
