im fitting an sti 8 long engine into my blob wrx as mine failed last week and before i fit it i want to stick a new oil pump on

which one should i go for? i had a cosworth on my old engine but i think that failed taking my bottom end with it

i have seen 12mm ones from advanced automotive and also just came across this

I use the RCM uprated oil pump as do many others, but I think the others mentioned are similar

I'm using the standard sti pump on my newage or I think its the standard pump and have no issues, running close to 7 bar on cold startup going to ariund 2.5bar on hot idle and 5-6 bar on bost.

I have heard the larger flow pumps can cause issues by taking the oil from the sump faster than it drains back in which can cause starvation.

The Advanced Automotive 12mm oil pump is the modified Roger Clark one I know Cosworth also do a 12mm one also,but for your application an 11mm wether an RCM one which is a modified O.E oil pump or just a normal Subaru O.E part you will be fine.SJ.

cheers matey, surely 12mm is better than 11mm? think I might get the advanced automotives one as I need to order a timing kit and water pump anyway

Hi there

You don't need to run 12mm oil pump on the fairly standard engine,we are run modified 10mm Oil pump at 490bhp without the issue

I had a new Subaru oil pump from the wrx sti 13 on my classic running 400bhp
and was amazing. Held 3.5bar when hot idle and never had a fault. Was a mate
who sorts me car out who told me about them and they not bad price

personally i would supply a 10mm pump for yourself or if you want a little "extra" then we can supply RCM modded ones on a "deal".............

I got all my bits from import car parts mate, they were much cheaper than advanced automotive, they were the cheapest on the cam belt kits too, i got the full kit for £160, if youre buying a few bits them you're better off phoning them as i got a few quid knocked off when i bought my forged build kit.

i need an oil pump,timing kit,water pump and 10L of coolant/antifreeze so might try a few traders to see who offers the best price

As Alyn already said,bigger oil pump is not always better,odofied oil pump or 10mm Oil pump will be just OK and good

Just buy and fit a new pump for peace of mind. New parts will surely offer fresher.. better usage.

according to this thread my avcs engine will have a 12mm as standard so surely i will need to replace it with a 12mm one?

Unless your car is quad avc's 2.0 JDM engine, thats the only engine from the factory with a 12mm pump, which is still over the top for what the engine requires, twin avc's usually has a 10mm pump, on the odd occasion a 11mm which is more than enough, if your going to be running oe bearing tolerences.
