Default car has been vandalised-what to do

went to my mates 40th tonight and parked down the side of the pub,was only in there about an hour when i went back to my car somebody has carved the words "****" and "****" in my rear quarter panel near my filler flap and the pillar around the rear window,if you rub your finger over them you can feel them so im thinking its gonna be a respray job but because its silver i will probably need it blowing in with my bumper/door

any idea of cost to do this? is it worth going through my insurance for it?

advice please

me very very angry, seems you cant have nice things these days

Check out some local smart repairers. Some are good and while the old saying of you get what you pay for is true, a 95% job for a couple of hundred may be a less painful option than £400 for 99% if you've got other things to pay for.

I had mine last car Keyed front to back down one side. Never found out why or who. I also took pride my car. I would also say it would be about £300, you May get it cheaper depending on who does the work. Aim to use a AtA approved painter. To gain a ATA you need to have worked in a bodyshop/smart for over 3years and get tested regularly to prove your up to the standards. The finish will be better, and they shouldn't need to paint as much so will save money on labour.

If you have some local private own places, go and talk to the painters at lunch. They might be able to fit you in between jobs or If its quiet do you a deal. Also if you have a college that does bodywork local, the lectures do the repairs in front on the students as a class.

Happened to me in Blackpool a few years ago, and then again in Manchester both times to my Hawk.

Someone carved "MR2" into the bonnet in Blackpool, down to the metal and it cost £300 to fix. Real fookin' clever.

The car was more badly damaged in Manc, a wing mirror was ripped off and the front fog smashed and bumper ripped. That cost around £500 to fix. Hospital car park CCTV not working...

I'm not a violent person or even a particularly tough one but if I ever caught the person/people that did this I hope for their sake they were hard as nails because I'd really, really hurt them.

To be honest if insults were scratched into the paint i would say someone has it in for you. If its just keys run up the side or a mirror booted off i would say it was a random attack by mindless vandals. I had this done to a motorbike years ago. Turned out it was some girl who had a crush on me but i never noticed her.
