was thinking of changing my coolant tomorrow because it looks brown and in a terrible state, i am guessing that pipe is the reason, is it hard to change?

I'd buy a new one for 2 reasons,1 is it will not be much from the stealers and 2 a secondhand one will more than likely be in much the same condition

Why not do away with the metal pipe and just silicone pipe it. That's what I did and made some 'p' clip brackets.

Can't remember off the top of my head, think it was 13mm but will check for you later as I still have a little off cut kicking about. And a meter length is plenty mate.
