Default Lambda error code

I have a 2002 Forester XT...yellow dash light came on the other day and got it checked today and they read a Lambda fault. I'm still in Switzerland at the moment working for another week, so just asked them to read it ( £100 / hour labour charges ). I dont even know how many lambdas my car has.. He said it could be the sensor or the wiring, and deleted the error but it came straight back on.
I need to drive to Germany / 800kms next week, could I do any harm driving as it is?
Its hardly been driven this winter and been stored away, could it just need a good run??
I can get it looked at in Germany which is much cheaper..thanks in advance for any advice

Stu..

yep that makes sence, Your Air Fuel Ratio Sensor in the exhaust needs replaced as the heater circuit has failed hence why the code bounced back in straight after a reset.

Bank 1 sens 1 heater. It's only the heater circuit at the moment so not really a problem yet, but may cause the sensor to totally fail in terms of lambda control as the heater circuit helps keep the sensor clean as well as heating the cat.

Should I try and get it changed straight away?/ Its just I know its going to be costly here in Switzerland..

I would change it as when it fails totally it may run lean. It's an easy job but the sensors are expensive.

Sensors are £250 Onwards

Trouble is with the Cel illuminated you will never see the fault for a totally failed sensor, It will be fine for now..
