Default Help and advice on tuning a WR1

Hi im thinking about buying a standard wr1 and tuning it up.

What sort of power is the engine capable of before forged internals is needed?

Also what sort of price would it be to get it to around the 400bhp mark? And what upgrades would i need to make.

Thanks

I got 422hp / 400lbs using the std pinks but did put in a Syvecs ECU with 3 bar map sensor, FMIC, K&N Indiction Kit and decat. That did over 14k miles without any trouble before I sold the short engine. I would stop there (imho)otherwise it will end up like mine!

You can get around 340-350ish by just paying for a licence up front using your std ecu and K&N Typhoon induction kit.

so what bhp/torque would you say is safe to run on standard engine internals in one of these? and what 1/4 mile time would it be able to reach?

thanks

450 bhp is the limit i would say, maybe a little less to be safe.

Have a look on Ebay - should be able to pick one up for c.£8k - £10k.

As said above my 422hp / 400lbs lasted over 14k miles but that said I wasn't thrashing it all the time. Also you will need to fork out on the other supporting mods if you took the route I did i.e. fmic, syvecs, decat etc.....and don't foget the clutch upgrade if you are going to be dumping clutch!

The 350hp would be cheaper option imho. Drop me a PM if you want to go into further details as to the route I took.

Depends on the person driving the car! I ran a late 12s at around 330hp at full weight without aid of launch control.

If you are ever in south london, drop me a pm and I will take you for a spin in my wr1 - don't worry it won't be on full boost!
