Default Oil pressure gauge help please

Iv found a fitting guide but it doesnt help me! Lol basically an autosport gauge, sender on sandwich plate, the gauge lights up but needle doesnt move, theres 2 loose wires in the engine bay, white and brown, if i put the brown to a earth the needle goes to the opposite end of the gauge and stays there, and if i then put the white to the little screw on the sender the needle goes to 0 and stays there?? Question is ......WTF am i doing wrong? I presume white is + and brown - ? Very simple explaination required please before i take it out and throw it towards the sun haha

I was thinking( hoping) this, does it need earth or + to the sender?

What have you got now?

Regarding your first one, most senders require a signal path and a return path. The return path CAN be through the engine and the outside of the sender.

So I'd presume that your sender would need BOTH wires, one to the screw, one to an earth nearby? Or the second to the OUTside of the sender?
