Fuel in oil!!!
Ok, long story short, ive been having issues with my94 sti wagon overfuelling ever since being remapped, car was booked for another remap this friday but i have now discovered fuel in the oil!!
Firstly i know this is not good, but other than getting the oil out is there anything else i need to be aware of, anything else i should do to get the car cleaned out so to speak, would anything else internal be damaged by the fuel in the oil??
Any help appreciated
Steve

Not a good thing at all I'm afraid due to the fuel thinning the oil down and obviously allowing more wear between running gear[cams/crank etc].
I would put something like a FORTE oil flush in the motor and allow to idle for around 10 minutes and then drop it out.
Hopefully it hasn't caused any premature damage but it will become apparent quite soon if it has,my main concern would obviously be big end bearing.

my main concern would be the condition of the bores as obviously you have had bore wash, this why you have fuel in the oil, i would flush it through with some cheap oil and then put you oil of choice in and get your mapper to look at it.

Car has always been well looked after, with quality oil and servicing etc, this fuel in oil has only occurred over the last 3 days and total mileage over those days would be no more than 30-40 miles, to work and back off boost, if i get the oil out asap, flush the engine out and refill with good quality oil should it be ok due to the very light use its had as described??

Unfortunately the damage to the rings might already be done. its worth getting a cylinder leakage test done prior to the remap, that will tell you the full story as to whether the engine is still ok.

Well it's a bottom end rebuild really if it has poor cylinder leakage. But i'd renew the oil and do the test and only when you know the results will you be able to make an informed decision.

Ok, so compression test done and results as follows, cyl 1 155psi, cyl 2 160 psi, cyl 3 150psi, cyl 4 154psi, which im reliably informed is good, so im going to drop the oil, fill with cheap oil and new filter, run it, drop it all out again, fit new filter and quality oil and get it mapped as was the plan, anyone have any opinions on the results and what i plan on doing with the car now, anything else i need to look for??.
Thanks in advance

Yes thats not bad, as long as you dont have a silly margin between them its a
The rest sounds like a plan, I wouldnt do much now until you have her mapped again though.

i think your just being over cautious steve with whats gone on, the oil didnt seem to have mutch petrol ingress if any to do any real damage in the short term. 160 psi on cylinder 2 is a very respectable figure to have on a 18yr old engine, just shows she's still got it

Lol
Cheers for your invaluble help yet again dave, it is greatly appreciated.

glad your compression test worked out ok, i hope that whoever told you to spread the oil between your fingers also told you to wear gloves while doing it.
