if youve done the bearings chances are youl need a new crank, not gonna be cheap mate.
around £500 for just a new crank. ive been told you cant or rather shudnt be re grindind a scooby crank, im sure some one could confirm this???

If the noise goes when you put the clutch in then it sounds like the release bearing is failing.
Good news is you'll just need a new clutch and not a new engine.

Does it only happen when engine cold? The engine will always be slightly tappety when cold. However if you say it's definitely coming from bottom of engine it won't be the tappets. Strange that it goes away when you press the clutch. In that case as above does sound like something more minor like clutch release bearing although its still a clutch out job I believe. Hope it works out ok.

if its going when clutch is depressed i cant really see how it can be the bottom end? as said above, that would indicate to me that your issue is with the clutch release bearing. Iv heard failing release bearings before that have sounded horrendous, and can produce a very loud knocking noise which could be mistaken for bottom end shells gone.

I'd assume a leak of some kind would cause your loss in boost. Bottom end failure is rare and from what I understand caused normally due to lack of oil or other major factors. You'd know if it was bottom end failure as there would be a knocking noise as in this case.

The fact it goes when the clutch is deperessed could be that the end float on the crank\bearings is taken up by the pressure of depressing the clutch,
Also the consistancy of the ticking\knocking sound increasing with engine revs rules out the release bearing.
The best way to rule out the release bearing is to run the engine and gently lever the clutch arm in the opposite direction of operation, if it still makes a noise it is defo engine related
