Default Confusing servicing costs!

All,
I have been getting a few quotes for a full 60k Service for a '04 plate WRX. However, to my surprise, the quotes I have had show a Subaru main dealer to be the cheapest!
Scooby Works = £391.65
Scooby Clinic = £506.01
Subaru Lincoln = £300

All prices with VAT.

What is going on here? I would expect cheaper prices from a non-franchised dealer!

Am I missing something?

PHK.

Including parts?

IIRC 60k is a belt change.

I have found scooby clinic to be really expensive.

90k service
Scooby clinic £615.70
Thwaites Developments £245

Both are +vat.

Default More info.

Here are the links:

I can't believe the prices they are charging for the fluids - I mean £59.95 for brake fluid!

http://www.scoobyworks.com/servicing_prices_newage.htm
Have just realised that the figure I quoted was without VAT, so the 60k service is £469.98!

According to all of these three, the cam belt is done at 50k, so the 60k service is a fluid & filter change!

Still, I wonder why the Subaru dealer if by far the cheapest? (£300 including VAT)!

PHK.

Is that the service with the cambelt or the service after it?

The service due after the cambelt is all fluids, filters and spark plugs.

That main dealer price does seem cheap, i'd ring them back and ask what that includes.

Bulldog Subaru in twyford quoted me over £500 for that in October

Just seen your post while i was typing.

That is the same service that i had done then.

I bought the fluids myself (only as most were on offer at the time) and took them to a specialist to get the service done. Where are you based?

IIRC i got it done for less than £400 and that was using millers oils, motul fluids, Dot 5.1 brake fluid, NGK 7 plugs etc.

If you have an 04 plate then you should be on a 70k service and not a 60k.

Default Background.

Thanks for all your replies

The background to this request is that I am going to see an '04 plate WRX PPP on Thursday. I decided to ring the garage that did the 60k service to check on what was done. They have no log that the car was ever there for the service. The owner says that there is a stamp in the service book. He is away atm (in the North Sea) and is due back tonight, so he will look for an invoice.
The reason that I am asking is that, if he can't prove to my satisfaction that the 60k service was done, then I am going to have to get it all done (albeit a bit late) and to be honest, I don't want to have to pay £300-£400 out for what should already have been done!

PHK.

Just found this through the search function, as the wife phoned our local Subaru dealer for a price for full service including gearbox and diff oil replacement, fuel and air filter etc and was told it would be nearly £700!

Why are scoobyclinic charging 40 odd quid for a k&n filter every 30 thousand miles, I thought they lasted 100k + and just need cleaning and re-oiling instead of replacing.

That said £185 for cambelt change seems cheap, take it that doesn't include pulleys and tensioners.

We are not!

If you already have one fitted we simply clean it out so your service will be cheaper!

We never fit paper filters unless requested

Hope this helps

All,
In the end, I bought a Bora 4motion. '03 plate with under 47,000 miles on the clock. Nice condition and lots of extras (sat nav, leather, rain sensing wipers etc.)

Not in the same 'ball park' as a Scoobie with regard to performance I know, but I needed to get a car this week and I simply couldn't find a WRX PPP that had FSH (or close to)!

Thanks for all your help and advice :-)

PHK.
