MAF advice for my '99
Best replace the MAF to be safe
Now I don't want to end up with the same crappy one if I can help it, so which part number should I be looking for?
Should I get it from my local dealer or somewhere else? Thnaks

Import Car Parts do them. But they do 2 for the MY99/00. You must make sure you get the more robust revised "post-2006/green stripe" type. See from post #34 of the below thread:-
STi 5 OEM HARDWARE'S MAPPED BHP POTENTIAL...???
The correct MAF is this one:-
MY99/00 "post-2006 green stripe" MAF

No - didn't have to.
If you read further on in that thread, I found out that my car already has the later MAF fitted. Which is nice. It was remapped about 2 months ago, so if the MAF was on its way out, then I'm sure it would have been picked up on by the mapper.
Car runs fine.

Well my fears are correct, connected the black connectors just after work and got a code 23 so the MAF needs replacing asap
Where's the code on the MAF? Tried to find it on mine but couldn't see it, just wondered which one I currently have
Thanks

Its normally where you cant see it and you may need a set of security drivers to undo the torx screws (maplins £10), otherwise the part number is below.

New MAF fitted and could tell the difference straight away, disconnected the battery for 45 minutes to reset the ecu. Fitted the new sensor eventually by drilling out the centre on the security torx screws and used a normal torx to remove them, bit of a bugger...
Tested for codes after reconnecting battery and it reported none... Drive it for a few days and test the codes again I think but as I say it feels, runs and idles a lot smoother than before, happy happy
