Default engine out is it worth doing clutch

having my headgasket done as we speak and its cost me a fortune he rang me before to say my clutch is about 75% worn and he said when it goes it states its a 11 hour job and would cost £900 including parts. he has asked if i can get the part while the engine is out he would do it for £50 is it worth getting done? or just wait as 75% should still last a while really. opinions please as i am skint with all the work i am having done so another cost on top is going to stretch me. i just wanted opinions, thanks

its a 5 hour job to change the clutch labour wise, I would change it while the engines out if your keeping it.

Does he mean worn 75% as in only 25% left? Def worth doing as it`s out.

I'd do the rear crank seal while you have the engine out too.

If it is only going to be £50 labour and £200 parts for the clutch then yes but I have the feeling that this headgasket is costing you a fortune already and the clutch may not need doing immediately (probs another year on it ...)

What is the total bill ?

11 hours! Christ on a bike lol.

I'm surprised he didn't offer to fit it for free to be honest, while the engine is out it'll take him 5 mins. Also he'd have made a few quid on the trade->retail on the clutch so no need to charge £50 IMO with the engine out.

Should fit it for free IMHO , we would as it only takes 5mins to bolt new one up whilst engine out.

We charge 6 hours for clutch , 210 + gear oil (6x35)

If you can afford then i would definately put a clutch in saves in the long run....

Definitely worth doing, also get the flywheel skimmed if required.

Worth doing, tell him to source it and fit it for free, or YOU source it and pay him £50.
