Default Power Steering Res Leak

Right after about 30 min searching, and not finding any answers, just people saying "common problem", "mine is doing this too", "ive made it worse".... Have people actually fixed this... read a few threads saying they replaced the o ring but its still leaking and what not.

Now I have just noticed mine is leaking (well i thought it was the rocker cover but i have noticed its actually dripping down from the power steering)

Anyway, is it best to take the whole thing off, strip it back and add new seals? where can i get the seals from?

Or should I get someone to make a new tank (stainless?) and new pipe it?

Alright James i thought mine was leaking on the seal so replaced that only to find the tank itself was leaking so i took it off and peeled back the steel bands that hold the 2 half tank's together and cleaned and resealed it to which the job was sorted then fella.

Hi Jamz my turn to try and help you lol

If you got the round type res check out my thread i had the same prob I just bought the square type fits perfect and only minor mods lol

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ed-95-wrx.html

If it is the round type the problem lies with how its connected to the pump IE its clamped via the bracket, replaceing to the square type its bolted to the pump no leaks yet

If its not the round type just ignore my post lol

James, it's a bit pot luck on the early cars with the PS tanks. Some have round ones and some have a square type.

Mine was originally a round one, replaced it with one from a 97 WRX.

Most of the ones on Ebay are overpriced IMO. Only paid £20/30 for mine.

What seems to be popular now, is replacing the assembly with the newage remote reservoir.

I might just take it off, and see what fittings are needed for the pump and return, and get a alloy tank made, and run braided hoses between the two (remote reservoir)
