Every cat restricts exhaust flow. Get it off, and the car will pick-up much nicer, IMHO.

Hi matey for full benefit of full decated exhaust(which include uppipe) you will need remap, walbro pump and 3 port solenoid will help for remap too-if you are fit these parts you will need again remap.
Fitting uppipe is not easy but i will recommend you get this fit by your mechanic/garage.
And after remap you will expect 270-280BHP....

Change it, the uppipe cat could brake apart and kill your turbo. Especially if you will make a remap and get more boost.
And yes, Harvey Smith uppipe is the way to go.

Not sure, but spool up will be much quicker and better response.

Hi mate. I changed the up-pipe on my 04 WRX. To be honest it wasn't that difficult. I am just a DIY-mechanic but I managed it with just a few basic tools. It did take me three and half hours but it wasn't too bad. If you are interested in the link to the guide that I used just let me know.

Cheers Wilky !

I asked bob rawle the very same question yesterday,as i was offered a stainless set of headers which the previous owner said made his car more torqueier when he had them fitted over the std set up.

Bobs response : tubular headers will require a tweak to your existing map, what make are they ?,be careful as there are makes that work and a lot that do not.

Stainless decat uppipe, slip jointed, five new studs and DEI heat wrapped is £139. We would charge £75 to fit it here in Darlington.

Here you go gents ....

http://www.scoobymods.com/best-damn-...ipe-t6649.html

It's from a US web site so it's a bit cheesy but it covers everything that you need and more. What is handy is the list of tools that you need. The only thing that caught me out was the socket needed to undo the O2 sensor ! Luckily I had a big open ender.

I used an up-pipe from a STi which in effect is a decat. It cost me £25 second hand from e-bay.

The job took me just over three and a half hours, but I made sure that I had soaked all of the bolts which were likely to cause me trouble in penetrating fluid first.

My only reference was the guide listed above, and I also have one of those PDF Subaru workshop manuals for getting the torque settings to tighten everything up.

Hope this is of some use !

Wilky.
