Default Help please, suggested engine mods

I bought my Classic UK WRX a few weeks ago and I believe that the engine is completely standard apart from dump valve and cat back exhaust system. I am wanting to up the horses via tuning method, and am wanting to find out is the best way to go in stages?

They didnt make a UK WRX in classic form, its either a JDM wrx or a UK turbo 2000, but we also need to know what year as the MY97/98 cars dont have mappable ecu's, the MY99/00 cars can be remapped with ecutek and the 93-96 cars have to be chipped/mapped

I would suggest the first thing to do is get a health check to see what the engine is like, its a good 16 years old, a compression test would be a good starting place, has the car been regulary serviced etc?

Serviced every year, no expense has been spared according to the service history which came with it. Where could I get a compression test carried out and what would I likely be looking at for it to cost?

A speciallist would be able to do it, probably cost you about an hours labour but will prove how good the engine is before you start doing any modifications

depending on where your located you could get FB tuing (richard) to do a health check this is exactly what i done when i got my uk turbo. he is based in high whycome and is very good with scoobys hes done all my work and tuning and mapping, top bloke ive not personally used simon at JGM but ive heard plenty of good things about him as well.

Easiest way to up the horses is Re map.. but dont expect much from a std uk turbo i done mine n got a safe 255bhp if you get urself an ecu (apexi) Upgraded turbo to something like a vf34/35 td05 etc through in some 440cc injectors and a walbro fuel pump with a re map you'll be look at my sort of figures 330bhp+. and about £1000-1500 out of pocket.

Martin, this car will already be running a TD05 so he wont have to upgrade the turbo
I would upgrade the 2 pots to 4 pots minimum though.

To be honest, I really don't know. I'm not really sure what is capable in the Scooby world and with what sort of money, I don't know what I can achieve with the engine and what sort of money has to be spent. If I had it remapped what sort of cost would that be and what kind of results could I see out of it?
