Default Scaling MAF's

Just wondering, when putting an induction kit on the car, the MAF gets

rescaled, if you change the MAF from the one that was rescaled, does it

need rescaling too, or will it be the same as the other one?

Is it not the ECU readings that get rescaled and the MAF stays the same? If you swap MAF's like for like it should be OK.

Is it you think your MAF's on the way out and want to swap it for a new one ??

Just don't quite understand the OP's question

That's because I'm useless at wording things! I've had it mapped and scaled , back in February it needed another maf, so I put that on, so I was wondering if that needs scaling, like you said, if it's stored on the ecu, then it should think it's the same, however I don't how It's done

I would suggest that as long as you log your AFRs and the corrections being applied, that will tell you immediately if you need to rescale and, more importantly, where the MAF needs to be rescaled. Even with my CAIK the MAF only needed a tiny tweak (~2%-5%) and only then near the top end of the scale - testimony to the common advice that induction changes are only worth it for big power or making more noise....

My first mistake was having a go with the RR 'rescale MAF' function without using a wideband and not checking the corrections. I actually made it worse. The AFR corrections showed that after the RR rescale, the ECU was pulling loads of fuel, i.e. the car was flowing far less air than RR claimed in the rescale.

Just my two pence worth. Apologies if you're waay ahead of me...

Not at all, just trying to understand, is it the ecu that stores the maf rescaling?

Absolutely right. It doesn't know that the sensor has changed.

The scale is stored only in the ECU as a long single row of numbers. If my induction is any sort of indicator and you're running the standard turbo, your induction will flow the same amount of air as before until you're at about ~6000 RPM and only then if you're driving close to WOT - remember that's assuming similar characteristics to mine. I also used det cans and didn't notice any new knock till ~6300 RPM and only then if I was caning it.

There is quite a potential difference in maf sensors too.

Swap two good maf sensors and they may read differently. Doesnt have to be much of a difference to be affecting things.

I've seen this too, my brothers car was mapped with one MAF on it, we changed it with a new one and it was running leaner.

Thread revival.

I had my car Mapped and maf was fine, it then failed months later so I replaced it, now my boostlevel is lower than before by about .5 bar, could this be the new maf needing to be re scaled? And the ecu pulling the boost to make it safe?

Thanks
Andy.

I would contact your mapper and get them to check it over as it may well be that
